  9. What is the normal basis on which fees are calculated?

The fee is normally related to the cost of the time and resources expended on the work. This may be done on a time charged or lump sum basis.

It is also open for us to agree an alternative fee basis which takes into account the value of the work to the client.

When fees are based on a time charge, the time spent on a job (including travelling time) is chargeable at a daily or hourly rate related to the person doing the work.

Where fees are agreed on a ‘lump sum’ basis, the client and consultant agree at the start a fixed price to cover all the time likely to be spent on the work and all expenses likely to be incurred. This will be monitored in the light of any changes in circumstances.
